The 2015 VW Golf Arriving Soon near Fife at Larson Volkswagen has kept us eagerly awaiting its arrival. NYDailyNews.Com says, “The seventh generation 2015 Volkswagen is improved in every way.” The new Golf is the first Volkswagen to see the new modular MQB platform that is set to underpin future Jetta and Passat models. The new platform adds 10-percent torsional stiffness, sheds weight, and makes the Golf 2.1 inches longer and 0.5 inches wider. Sources say those changes offer better handling and provide more interior space. It is offered as a two-door or four-door hatchback.
Powering the 2015 Golf will be three available engine options to choose from: a turbocharged 1.8L four-cylinder good for 23 mpg City/30 Highway for some trim levels, and up to 26 City/37 Highway when paired with the six-speed manual transmission. Keeping the TDI engine alive, Volkswagen offers a new version that now puts out 150 hp from the 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine. Fuel economy ratings for the new TDI option are 31 City/42 Highway. The focus in 2015 for the TDI model engine was to produce a more efficient and cleaner engine so engineers added a selective catalytic reduction system with urea injection. Powering the more performance oriented GTI is a 2.0L turbocharged 210 hp four-cylinder engine that still earns 25 mpg City/34 Highway.
